Caddis Life Cycle Pack 32 flies 19.95

Caddis are around the Bow from May until October. We often see a great Mothers Day Caddis hatch in May and then pretty steady activity from June to October with bugs getting smaller later in the season (Other than the meaty October Caddis) 

This pack includes a couple of nymph patterns to imitate the Larva and the Larva, Pupa, Emerger and Adult stages. The colours don't seem to matter as much as size but  I do use all these pretty regularly.  Some things to consider: If the size seems right and you're getting refusals or being ignored, try a lighter tippet AND OR get some length on that leader. I like at least a 12 foot leader for my dry presentations. 

If you're experiencing several cross currents and no takers, move your feet so you don't have any drag. Often, a nearly direct upstream presentation will do the trick. If the drag free approach isn't working, don't be afraid to give it a little twitch just upstream of your rising fish. Caddis often "skidder" and sometimes the trout need a little encouragement. 

When in doubt, size down. This works more often for me than changing patterns and includes your dries, emergers and nymphs. 

If they won't eat one of these, consider an emerger behind the dry. If I don't have an emerger handy, I'll just cut down the wings on the elk hair so the caddis sinks slightly. It works. 

Caddis nymphs move very quickly to the surface when they decide it's time to hatch. I'll often get my guests to let that line tighten up at the end of the drift, causing the nymph to move up the water column....A lot of strikes happen on that pause before you re cast.
