This is a searching pattern that works well for me on those cloudy days in off colour water. I like it in the spring or early summer when water levels and clarity often change from day to day. The hackle gives it a buggy attitude and sometimes I'll cut it back to streamline the profile. I don't know what it is about copper flash or even coppery brown hackle, but trout seem to attack it when they won't look at anything else.
